Cyprus recorded a slight uptick in harmonised inflation in June 2025, with the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) increasing by 0.5% compared to the same month last year, according to the Statistical Service of Cyprus. Month-over-month, prices edged up 0.4% from May.
Sectors such as Recreation and Culture (+7.5%) and Restaurants and Hotels (+5.5%) were the biggest contributors to the annual rise. On the other hand, Clothing and Footwear saw the sharpest drop in prices, falling 5.0% year-on-year.
June’s monthly shift was similarly shaped by leisure and hospitality, with Restaurants and Hotels climbing 2.3% and Transport rising by 1.8%. In contrast, Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages experienced a 1.8% decline from the previous month.
For the January–June 2025 period, inflation rose 1.6% compared to the same timeframe in 2024. Again, Recreation and Culture (+7.4%) and Restaurants and Hotels (+5.3%) posted the strongest annual growth. In contrast, Clothing and Footwear dropped 5.4% in the first half of the year.
From an economic category perspective, Energy recorded the steepest annual fall at -9.6%, while Services saw the highest monthly growth in June at +1.6%.
