The construction sector in Cyprus experienced growth on two fronts in the second quarter of 2025, with both the volume of production and the output prices for construction projects recording significant annual increases. According to data released Tuesday by the Statistical Service, this trend was consistent throughout the first half of the year.

Second Quarter Performance in Detail

The Index of Production in Construction, which measures the volume of activity, saw a year-on-year increase of 4.6% in the second quarter. This indicates a healthy rise in the amount of construction work being carried out compared to the same period in 2024.

At the same time, the cost of construction also climbed. The Output Prices Index in Construction rose by 5.4% on an annual basis and by 2.1% compared to the first quarter of 2025, signaling continued inflationary pressure within the sector.

A Look at the First Half of the Year

The data confirms a sustained upward trend for 2025 so far. For the period of January to June, the Index of Production increased by 3.7% and the Output Prices Index rose by 4.9% compared to the first half of 2024.
