Tourist Arrivals in Cyprus Rise by 11.5% in First Half of 2025

Cyprus experienced a notable uptick in tourist traffic during the first six months of 2025, welcoming 1,843,013 visitors compared to 1,652,475 during the same period last year—marking an 11.5% increase, according to figures released by the Statistical Service and reported by Stockwatch.

June Sees Continued Growth

Tourism numbers for June alone reached 498,527, up 3.4% from 482,261 in June 2024.

The United Kingdom maintained its position as the leading source of visitors, contributing 36.4% of June’s arrivals (181,610 individuals). Other key source markets included Poland (7.3%), Israel (6.1%), Germany (5.3%), Sweden (4.8%), and Romania (3.4%).

Visitor Trends by Country

Among the most significant year-on-year increases in June arrivals were tourists from Denmark, up 73.6%, followed by the Netherlands (31.3%), Romania (29.1%), and Lebanon (25%).

Conversely, a decline was seen in arrivals from Israel (down 41.6%), France (down 20.1%), and Greece (down 16.4%).

Purpose of Visit

The majority of international visitors in June 2025 came to Cyprus for holiday purposes—81.2%—while 13.2% visited friends or family, and 5.6% traveled for business. In comparison, the figures for June 2024 stood at 83.4% for holidays, 10.5% for social visits, and 5.9% for business.

Outbound Travel by Cypriot Residents Also Increases

In addition to higher inbound tourism, outbound travel by Cyprus residents also saw growth. A total of 157,324 Cypriot residents returned from trips abroad in June 2025, representing a 15.1% increase over the 136,739 recorded in June 2024.

The most common countries visited were Greece (34% share or 53,543 returns), the UK (8.3% or 13,134), and Italy (7.1% or 11,173).

Among Cypriot travelers, 61.6% traveled for leisure, 24.9% for business, and 11.8% for studies.
