Cyprus’s tourism sector continued its impressive growth trajectory in July, with visitor arrivals climbing by 6.9% compared to the same month last year. This surge brings the total increase for the first seven months of 2025 to 10.4%, solidifying a strong year for the island’s key industry, according to data released Tuesday by the Cyprus Statistical Service (CyStat).<\/p>\n

Inbound Tourism Breakdown<\/h3>\n

In absolute numbers, the island welcomed 589,116 tourists in July, up from 551,229 in July 2024. The year-to-date total has now reached over 2.43 million visitors.<\/p>\n

The United Kingdom continues to be the primary source of tourism, accounting for nearly a third (32.2%) of all arrivals in July. Israel followed as the second-largest market with 13.0% of visitors, with Poland (7.4%), Germany (4.0%), and Sweden (3.5%) rounding out the top five.<\/p>\n

The overwhelming reason for visiting was for a holiday, cited by 85.5% of travelers. A notable trend was the increase in people visiting friends or relatives, which rose to 11.6% of all arrivals.<\/p>\n

Outbound Travel Also on the Rise<\/h3>\n

It wasn’t just inbound traffic that was busy; Cypriot residents also traveled abroad in greater numbers. Trips by residents in July increased by 9.1% compared to the previous year, totaling nearly 187,000 departures.<\/p>\n

Greece was by far the most popular destination, attracting 36.8% of outbound Cypriot travelers, followed by the United Kingdom and Italy. The main purpose of these trips was vacation (75.1%).<\/p>\n
