The purpose of the contract is to announce and complete a competitive process for selecting a strategic investor, aiming at the development of the project using the D.B.F.O.T. method (Design, Build, Finance, Operate, Transfer).
A statement from the Deputy Ministry mentions that the marina is planned to be constructed in the Potima area in Kissonerga. The successful investor will have the option to either build a marina with a capacity of one thousand boats, including residential and commercial development, or a combined development of a marina with the same capacity and infrastructure for accommodating cruise ships, which will also include residential and commercial development.
It is noted that the total duration of the contract amounts to 30 months. The announcement of the project is expected to occur nine to twelve months from the signing of the contract, meaning from today.
The awarding of the marina project to the successful investor is expected to be completed around the end of 2026.
In the coming months, consultations are planned with both public and private entities, as stipulated in the contract, to finalize the parameters of the project.
Deputy Minister Kostas Koumis mentioned that today marks the first step towards realizing a significant project expected to bring new momentum to the developmental prospects of the entire region.
“Undoubtedly, projects of this scale and dynamism enhance the offered tourism product of our country and define the development path of tourism for the coming decades,” he stated.
The Paphos Marina is the fourth marina under the supervision of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism.
Mr. Koumis said that all the projects lay the groundwork for the further development of nautical tourism, and specifically yachting tourism, a form of tourism primarily characterized by high-income visitors and all that entails.
