The Interior Ministry of Cyprus has announced that individuals applying for housing assistance through the Service for Care and Rehabilitation of Displaced Persons (YMAPE) can simultaneously apply for the grant scheme aimed at young individuals and couples under 41 years old. Importantly, applicants are not required to withdraw their initial YMAPE application when pursuing the youth housing grant.

However, the ministry emphasized that approval under one scheme will result in the automatic cancellation of the application for the other, as receiving dual state housing aid is strictly prohibited.

This policy applies to both individual applicants and their spouses or partners with pending YMAPE applications. Those whose applications are still under review may also opt to apply for the youth housing scheme without impacting their YMAPE evaluation process.

The ministry stated, “Once either application is approved, the other will be automatically cancelled, as the schemes do not permit receiving double state housing assistance.”
