Cyprus Emerges as a Leading Global Shipping Hub, Says Deputy Minister

Cyprus has transformed into a modern and highly efficient shipping hub, ranking as the largest shipping management center in Europe and among the top three globally, according to Deputy Shipping Minister Marina Hadjimanoli. She made these remarks during the inauguration of the fourth Thalassa festival in Limassol, alongside Greek Shipping Minister Christos Stylianides.

The festival, designed to immerse visitors in the maritime culture of Limassol, offered various workshops and showcased information from 43 participating organizations and services.

Hadjimanoli noted the rapid growth of commercial shipping in Cyprus, highlighting that careers in maritime professions are among the most promising for the future.

Limassol’s mayor, Yiannis Armeftis, emphasized the city’s evolution into an international maritime and financial center, pointing out that its port facilities play a crucial role in facilitating global trade and maritime activities. He also mentioned that the sea significantly influences the quality of life for the residents of Limassol and shapes the city’s identity.

The festival’s opening featured an impressive display of vessels, including those from the navy, port authorities, marine police, the fisheries and sea research department, VTS Vasiliko Terminal, and P&O Maritime Logistics.
