Tourist Arrivals in Cyprus Jump Nearly 7% in July, Up 10% for the Year

Cyprus’s tourism sector continued its impressive growth trajectory in July, with visitor arrivals climbing by 6.9% compared to the same month last year. This surge brings the total increase for the first seven months of 2025 to 10.4%, solidifying a strong year for the island’s key industry, according to data released Tuesday by the Cyprus Statistical Service (CyStat).

Inbound Tourism Breakdown

In absolute numbers, the island welcomed 589,116 tourists in July, up from 551,229 in July 2024. The year-to-date total has now reached over 2.43 million visitors.

The United Kingdom continues to be the primary source of tourism, accounting for nearly a third (32.2%) of all arrivals in July. Israel followed as the second-largest market with 13.0% of visitors, with Poland (7.4%), Germany (4.0%), and Sweden (3.5%) rounding out the top five.

The overwhelming reason for visiting was for a holiday, cited by 85.5% of travelers. A notable trend was the increase in people visiting friends or relatives, which rose to 11.6% of all arrivals.

Outbound Travel Also on the Rise

It wasn’t just inbound traffic that was busy; Cypriot residents also traveled abroad in greater numbers. Trips by residents in July increased by 9.1% compared to the previous year, totaling nearly 187,000 departures.

Greece was by far the most popular destination, attracting 36.8% of outbound Cypriot travelers, followed by the United Kingdom and Italy. The main purpose of these trips was vacation (75.1%).
