Tourism in Cyprus is off to a record-breaking start in 2025, with historic levels of visitor arrivals during the first four months of the year. According to Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis, April alone saw over 400,000 tourist arrivals, the highest number ever recorded for that month.
Letymbiotis shared the update during a press briefing at the Presidential Palace, describing this success as a result of long-term planning, smart policy decisions, and strong public-private collaboration. “These aren’t just good numbers,” he said, “they’re proof of a national tourism strategy that’s delivering real results.”
Tourism Surge: The Numbers Behind the Milestone
According to official data from Cyprus’ Statistical Service, tourism figures between January and April 2025 have set new records. Here’s how current arrival numbers stack up:
-
Up 15.6% vs. 2024
-
Up 17.5% vs. 2023
-
Up 62% vs. 2022
-
Up 26% compared to 2019, pre-pandemic
These figures confirm that not only has tourism fully rebounded from the pandemic, but it’s now on a steady upward path.
Year-Round Tourism on the Rise
Even more encouraging: Cyprus is no longer just a summer destination. Letymbiotis emphasized a notable boost in off-season tourism, especially in the winter months. From November to April, arrivals rose:
-
51% over the past 3 years
-
122% over the past 10 years
This growth points to a more balanced, year-round tourism economy, helping to support local communities and businesses even outside peak season.
What’s Next for Cyprus Tourism?
Letymbiotis was quick to clarify that this success is not a reason to relax. “This momentum drives us to aim higher — to improve quality, diversify what Cyprus offers, tap into new markets, and ensure sustainable growth,” he said.
Tourism remains a key economic pillar for the island, and the government plans to build on this strong foundation through consistent vision and strategic planning.
