Cyprus kicked off 2025 with a strong boost in tourism income, as revenue from international visitors soared to €69.2 million in January, marking a 53.1% jump compared to €45.2 million in January 2024, based on the latest data from the Cyprus Statistical Service’s Passenger Survey.

The spike in earnings is largely credited to a surge in arrivals from key markets such as Israel and the United Kingdom.

Higher Spending Per Visitor

The average amount spent per tourist also saw an impressive rise. In January 2025, per capita expenditure climbed to €617.65, up from €513.52 in the same month last year — a 20.3% increase.

Market Breakdown

Israeli travellers led the way, making up 21.1% of all arrivals. Not only were they the largest group, but they also nearly doubled their daily spending, from €118.34 to €176.13 year-on-year.

British visitors came in second, accounting for 16.7% of arrivals. Their average daily spend grew to €57.75, up from €52.73 the previous January.

Meanwhile, Polish tourists made up 14.1% of total visitors, spending an average of €69.97 per day, which remained consistent with 2024 figures.

Arrival Numbers on the Rise

Overall, Cyprus experienced a 27.5% rise in total tourist arrivals in January 2025.

  • Israeli arrivals more than doubled, jumping from 9,148 to 23,704 — a 159% increase.

  • Visitors from the UK grew by 14.6%, from 16,321 to 18,701.

  • German arrivals also rose, climbing 39.4%, from 2,952 to 4,114.

This early-year growth sets a promising tone for Cyprus’ tourism industry in 2025, as it continues to recover and expand with strong contributions from both repeat and emerging markets.
