Cyprus Welcomes Over 418,000 Tourists in April 2025 – A 25.5% Surge Compared to Last Year

Tourism in Cyprus saw a major boost this spring, with 418,730 tourist arrivals recorded in April 2025—a sharp 25.5% increase from the 333,563 visitors in April 2024, according to the Statistical Service of Cyprus.

Top Source Countries

Visitors from the United Kingdom led the pack, making up 36.3% of total arrivals (151,883 people). Other significant contributors included:

  • Israel: 15.2% (63,474 arrivals)

  • Germany: 7.1% (29,613 arrivals)

  • Poland: 6.9% (29,009 arrivals)

  • Greece: 3.9% (16,354 arrivals)

Purpose of Visit

The majority of tourists came to Cyprus for a well-deserved break:

  • 80.3% visited for holidays

  • 12.7% came to see friends and family

  • 6.9% traveled for business

Compared to April 2024, there was a slight shift in travel reasons:

  • 82.1% visited for holidays

  • 9.4% for personal visits

  • 8.3% for business

Strong Start to the Year

Zooming out, tourist arrivals for the first four months of 2025 (January–April) reached 865,326, marking a 15.6% year-on-year increase over the 748,814 arrivals during the same period in 2024.


Cypriot Residents Traveling Abroad Also on the Rise

It wasn’t just tourists flying in—164,844 residents of Cyprus returned from trips abroad in April 2025, a 24.1% increase from 132,806 in April 2024.

Top countries they returned from included:

  • Greece: 33.3% (54,967 residents)

  • United Kingdom: 8.6% (14,111 residents)

  • Italy: 6.5% (10,735 residents)

Their reasons for travel were mostly leisure-related:

  1. 70.9% for holidays

  2. 17.5% for business

  3. 10.8% for studies

  4. 0.8% for other reasons
