Limassol is stepping confidently into the future with over €660 million in planned investments, President Nikos Christodoulides announced during the unveiling of the government’s strategic plan for the district on Saturday.
Speaking at an official event attended by 12 cabinet members, local MPs, and representatives from every local authority, the President described Limassol as the driving force of Cyprus’ economy—a vibrant hub for shipping, tech, and multiculturalism that continues to evolve without losing its traditional identity.
“Limassol is living proof that Cyprus can face the future with optimism,” Christodoulides said.
A City of Progress—and Pressure
While praising the city’s rapid transformation, the President also acknowledged the growing pains that come with fast-paced development. Key concerns include:
-
The rising cost of living
-
Ongoing housing difficulties, particularly for younger generations
-
Traffic congestion and infrastructure pressure
Collaborative Approach to Challenges
To tackle these issues, Christodoulides called for stronger cooperation between the state and local governments, emphasizing a holistic and inclusive approach. The aim? To shape solutions together—with active involvement from the community.
Highlights from the Strategy

-
Support for SMEs and tech startups
