Christodoulides and Trump Commit to Strengthening Cyprus-US Relations

Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides and US President-elect Donald Trump have committed to enhancing the partnership between their countries during a phone call on Thursday.

In an official statement, government spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis revealed that President Christodoulides congratulated Trump on his electoral success and expressed eagerness to collaborate closely with the incoming US administration to deepen bilateral relations.

The conversation underscored the substantial progress made in recent years in key areas such as defense, security, economic investments, humanitarian assistance, and crisis management in the Eastern Mediterranean. Both leaders emphasized the importance of building on this foundation to further strengthen cooperation.

The two presidents also reaffirmed their shared vision of broadening the strategic relationship between Cyprus and the United States. They highlighted the value of the ongoing Strategic Dialogue, which aims to deliver mutual benefits while contributing to the stability and prosperity of the broader region.

Additionally, the discussion addressed concerns over recent developments in the Eastern Mediterranean. President Christodoulides reiterated Cyprus’s commitment as a dependable US partner in promoting peace, stability, and development in the area.

Following the call, President Christodoulides shared his thoughts on social media, describing the exchange as an “excellent conversation.” He reaffirmed the importance of Cyprus-US relations, stating, “We will work together to further reinforce our relations for the benefit of our countries and the region.”
