Cyprus saw a record number of travelers passing through its airports in September, with 1.4 million passengers using Larnaca and Paphos airports, according to airport operator Hermes on Monday.

Passenger traffic in September 2024 increased by 7% compared to the same month in 2023, setting an all-time record for September, Hermes reported. The United Kingdom, Greece, Israel, Poland, and Germany were the top markets for Larnaca Airport, while for Paphos, the leading markets were the United Kingdom, Greece, Poland, Israel, and France.

Hermes highlighted that the trend in passenger traffic has been on an upward path over the past nine months. Between January and September, a total of 9.5 million passengers passed through both airports, reflecting a 5% increase compared to the same period last year.

Looking ahead, the flight schedule for October continues with around 1,000 flights per week, and early indications for the winter season are promising. From November to March, an additional 300,000 seats have been added compared to the previous year, which already saw growth during that period.

Maria Kouroupi, Director of Aviation Development at Hermes Airports, emphasized the importance of maintaining these positive trends. She noted that investing in year-round connectivity would bring numerous advantages to Cyprus.
